Florida Association of Certified Veterinary Assistants (FACVA)
For FVMA Certified Veterinary Assistants
The Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA) launched the Florida Association of Certified Veterinary Assistants (FACVA) to recognize the outstanding contributions certified veterinary assistants (CVAs) make to the veterinary profession and to ensure that these integral members of the veterinary team are given the resources they need to excel in their field and provide the best possible outcomes for their patients.
With a track record of excellence as a membership organization, the FVMA represents more than 5,900 members and nearly 80% of the veterinary practices statewide, who employ talented professionals like you. We pride ourselves in being the voice of veterinary medicine in Florida, and encourage you to join us and add your voice to strengthen our profession and your career.
Membership Criteria: Open to any graduate of Animal Care Technologies’ (ACT) CVA program who has completed the requisite 500 hours of practice experience. Certification automatically enrolls you in FACVA membership for the duration of your certification period.
For more information on how to become certified as an assistant through the FVMA please visit our certification page. There is no FACVA application; individuals who graduate ACT’s veterinary assistant training program and obtain their practical experience are automatically certified and enrolled in the FACVA.
If you are already working as an assistant and are interested in becoming certified talk to your practice manager about ACT’s in-practice certification track. For more information on this program and to sign up your clinic please click here.
