The Florida Association of Equine Practitioners (FAEP) is an equine-exclusive division of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA). The FAEP’s mission is to support the professional development of its members and to educate them on issues affecting the equine industry as well as methods for improving equine welfare in Florida. The FAEP offers world-class, equine-exclusive continuing education at two annual conferences: the Promoting Excellence Symposium and the Ocala Equine Conference. The FAEP also runs and distributes the equine-focused publication, The Practitioner, to FAEP members.

*FAEP Bylaws state: “Any veterinarian who has been (a) an active member of the Association or any other state veterinary association for at least the past 15 years, (b) has reached the age of 65 and (c) and who may be engaged in the practice of veterinary medicine on an average of less than a total of ten (10) hours per week. Retired members shall have all the privileges of full membership.”

The FVMA’s Legislative Committee and Staff are constantly monitoring any proposed legislation that could affect the veterinary profession. Our statewide network of members will contact legislators whenever necessary to protect the interests of our members. The FVMA also retains the lobbying firm of Rutledge Ecenia PA to ensure that the “good bills pass” and “the bad bills don’t.”
