Florida is home to one of the largest populations of veterinarians in the US, providing care for millions of household pets, farm animals, and horses throughout the state. It is also home to one of the nation’s leading veterinary schools.
As the philanthropic arm of the FVMA, and to help Florida’s veterinary medical sector realize its full potential for serving animals, the FVMA Foundation provides essential services that support, encourage, and empower the people involved at every level of veterinary medical care.
We support the veterinary community in a variety of ways:
Providing access to mental health professionals with veterinary experience and delivering related programs that provide wellbeing services that are open at no cost to all veterinarians and support staff throughout the state in response to the mental health crisis facing our field
Providing scholarships to promising veterinary students
Providing leadership development opportunities to early-career veterinarians
Providing emergency veterinary medical services and infrastructure grants in response to hurricanes and other natural disasters
Providing financial grants to help low-income pet owners obtain urgent treatment for pets with life-threatening conditions
Advocating for legislation that positively impacts the practice of veterinary medicine in the state of Florida
